SeenThis? FAQ

FAQ

1. What's so special about SeenThis?

SeenThis? is the first Facebook application that helps you find relevant news articles, blog entries, videos, and other media items by showing you what's popular with your friends, groups, and networks. The great thing is that outside of Facebook, it also works on our Media Partner sites so that you can bring your crowd with you to help you find the things you like.

2. How can I see friends' names when it says "Popular with 5 friends"?

You can't. We want to let you know what's popular in your crowd, but we also want to respect people's privacy — SeenThis? shows recommendations in ways that are not individually identifiable. If your friends want to call attention to something specifically, they can always share it with you, or post it to their Facebook profile with the "Share It" button. For more information on our privacy features, please see our Privacy FAQ and Policy.

3. How do I take full advantage of SeenThis?

Invite all your friends. The more of your friends that use it, the more meaningful the recommendations. And visit our Media Partners to know what your friends are reading there.

4. Can I see just what a particular group is paying attention to?

Yes. You can view just the items that are popular within a group by selecting that group in a pull-down menu on the Home page of the application.

5. Can I see just what's popular within my network on a particular site?

Yes. In a similar manner as above, you can view just the items from a single publisher by using the pull-down menu at the top of the Home page.

6. What does the "Share This Article" button do?

If you discover an article or video that you really like, you can share it with your friends on Facebook by using this handy feature. You can send it directly to your friends as a message or post it to your profile.

7. What's the difference between Media Partners and the other publishers listed in my "Settings" page?

Our Media Partners are able to take full advantage of SeenThis? to provide you with more items of interest. They may also display the SeenThis? widget on their sites so that you can use it there. We also allow you to see what's popular from other publishers with the SeenThis? application, however, you'll only be able to do so from the SeenThis? application within Facebook.

8. Do I need to be a subscriber of your Media Partners like The Wall Street Journal Online to read their articles with SeenThis?

No. Through arrangements we've made with our Media Partners, all of the content that we point you to within SeenThis? is accessible without a subscription.

9. How do I add my favorite website to SeenThis?

We invite you to submit suggestions by posting them to our forum. We plan to include many more publishers, but we want to know what you'd most like to see.

10. Are there any technical limitations when using it?

Some people report problems when using IE6, so if you're using this browser, we recommend upgrading it to IE7, using Firefox or another modern browser. This advice is consistent with Facebook's requirement that users use IE7 or above.

11. How do I become a fan of your really cool app?

Share SeenThis? with your friends and mention it within your groups. And give us feedback on what you'd like to see so we can continue to improve it.
